2 days in Northern Arizona? No problem!

We’ve had the privilege of living in Southern Arizona for almost 2 years now. It’s truly a magical place to be! As is, Northern Arizona. Before we moved to Arizona, neither one of us had ever seen the Grand Canyon, so this was on our list of must-sees! We tried to fit in as much sightseeing as possible on a weekend, and here is what we recommend!

If you’re planning on seeing the Grand Canyon (which you absolutely must!) spend a night in Williams. Route 66 goes through it and it’s got the cutest diners and scenery! We stayed at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel. It was very nice. We also enjoyed breakfast at Pine Country Restaurant. You must try their pie! We loved walking around and seeing the train take off for the Grand Canyon. Would love to do this in the future!

We then checked out Bearizona! This drive-thru wildlife park is incredible. You get to drive your personal vehicle through the park and encounter wild animals up close and personal. They have everything from bighorn sheep to white bison, oh, and of course the black bears!  Once you’re done driving though, you can also walk around outside and see animal enclosures. They’ve got all kinds of events and learning opportunities for visitors to enjoy. Roelf and others put their arms out straight for a bird to walk across them all! Pretty cool stuff.

If you haven’t noticed by now, we make the most of our adventures. Following Bearizona, we drove to the Grand Canyon! We signed up for a sunset tour with “The Original Grand Canyon Jeep Tours & Safaris.” Our trip was in October and it was pretty cold and windy. Be sure to bundle up if you plan on doing this! Luckily though, the tour company had blankets which made a world of difference. The tour was great, the views were spectacular and God’s creation is just breathtaking.

Next stop in Northern AZ: Page!

Page is near two of some of the most incredible views in Arizona. Antelope Canyon & Horseshoe Bend. We think these two places are just as worth seeing as the Grand Canyon.

Antelope Canyon is part of the Lake Powell Navajo Tribal Park. Only authorized tour companies are allowed to take visitors to see the Canyon. But, you can visit Horseshoe Bend on your own! The tour we did covered both stops in a few hours and it was great! It’s called Horseshoe Bend Slot Canyon Tours. Our guide actually owned some of the land that Antelope Canyon is on. Both places had iconic views. And a fun fact we learned on our tour, Horseshoe Bend (now a common screensaver that you will see) didn’t become famous until it was featured in a Super Bowl advertisement. Since then, it’s blown up in popularity.

We hope you enjoy all of these recommendations.

And did I mention my 83-year-old Grandmother did all of us with us? She’s impressive.
